DALE IBITZ: Author Interview and Giveaway

Today on Carly's View, I would like to welcome author, Dale Ibitz. Thank you for joining me, Dale.

CJ:  Tell us about your latest WIP? Any tidbits you can share?

DI:  My latest WIP is a paranormal romance, The Reaper's Kiss. The story is about William, a half-reaper with a haunted past looking to change; Leah, a bad-ass Naphil with a angry past looking for revenge; and Natalie, a human with a secretive past looking for forgiveness. Their stories merge as they come together with visions of happiness, hope and love.

CJ:  You've been a writer for many years, do you enter writing contests? If so, do you think they are a valuable editing tool?

DI:  I have in the past, but not for years. Depending on the contest and how well I do ... :) ... I haven't considered them an editing tool. I find reader feedback is the most valuable in tweaking my writing.

CJ:  What is your favorite character you've created and why?

DI:   That would be Tuggin, from my YA fantasy series, Last Moon Rising. This is a guy who is handsome and brusque...with an underlying quality of niceness. Full of mystery, you don't know until the last book whether he's good or bad. I love characters that embrace both good and bad qualities...cuz let's face it, we all have good and bad qualities!

CJ:   How did you handle rejects or negative reviews?

DI:   You can't say those don't affect you...they do.We're human and we want people to love what we do. So after the initial "Wow, bummer man"...you take a step back and objectively listen to what the review has to say . You can learn quite a bit from a negative review.

CJ:  What has been your most humorous event that has happened to you in relation to your writing?

DI:  Honestly, I can't think of anything humorous!

CJ:  Do you belong to any writing groups such as the RWA?

DI:  I do belong to the RWA.

CJ:  Who is your favorite author?

DI:  Just one? Really? LOL Depending on the genre, my faves are Scott Westerfield, Gena Showalter, and Jennifer Armentrout.

CJ: If you could put yourself in any storyline in any book, which would it be?

DI: Any Gena Showalter Lords of the Underworld book. Who wouldn't????

CJ:  What is your favorite book to movie crossover and why?

DI:  I thought they did a really good job with the Hunger Games...they pretty much stuck to the storyline without changing too much. Of course, Lord of the Rings was epic, between the affects and the cast...spot on.

CJ:  Is there anything else you want your readers to know about you?

DI: I love coffee and chocolate, am obsessed with The Walking Dead, love furry animals, would give up almost anything for a day at the beach, dig thunderstorms and the ocassional blizzard, and am totally useless after 7 p.m. (I'm a definite morning person).
