INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR, ERIN BEVAN

I interviewed Erin Bevan on my blog today. Thank you for joining me Erin.

CJ:  Tell me a little about yourself.
EB:  I'm a stay at home mom and housewife. I have three children, all under the age of five. There is never a dull moment, or a quiet one, in this house.

CJ:  What go you into writing?
EB:  I got into writing when my husband, my daughter, and myself moved to South Korea. I had never been around children much and found myself feeling isolated stuck in an apartment all day with my daughter. I, honestly, didn't know what to do with a baby, and I didn't have any friends or family to rely upon for help. So, I put her in a Korean daycare program and spent several hours alone in our tiny apartment. I decided I needed a hobby and took an on-line writing course. I had never had a chance in life to just be still and figure out what I enjoyed doing. Once I started writing, I couldn't stop.

CJ: What is your writing routine? Is it daily? Do you have a set amount of time to write each day?
EB: Oh, I wish I had a better routine. Now that we have three kids, I have no choice but to be a real stay at home mom. I've figured out what to do with my kids in the past four years! Anyway, I try to write five days a week during naptime, but sometimes the stars don't always align in my favor.

CJ:  Are you a plotter or a pantser?
EB: Pantser for sure. I have tried on several occasions to make an outline, storyboards, etc...It just doesn't work for me. In fact, my writing is probably what you would consider very messy and disorganized, which is funny because I hate being disorganized. I really should take a look at taking a course in Scrivener so I can get better organized. Then just maybe I wouldn't be such a Pantser.

CJ:  How do you keep your storylines and characters straight?
EB:  Ha, ha, ha. Did you just read the above comment? It's all in my head, which is really a very scary thought. I currently write in MW, so I have many, many of those post it note comments in my manuscript.

CJ:  What is your most favorite characters from one of your books and why?
EB:  That's a tough one. I really like the character I'm writing about now, or I should say the character duo I'm writing. The two characters, one male and one female, bounce off each other. I like fun and witty, and these two work well together.

CJ:  Your book, The Ranch Hand, is a western with the Wild Rose Press. What got you interested in western writing?
EB:  The Ranch Hand came about when I answered a call for an erotic woman's cowboy anthology. I thought, "what the heck" and gave it a shot. It got denied! I decided I wasn't going to waste a good story. After all, I worked hard on it, so I added some here and deleted some there, and submitted to TWRP. They took it right away and I was thrilled.

CJ:  What is something you want your readers to know about you?
EB:  I'm about as normal as it gets. My life is not glamorous at all. I spend most of my day covered in baby spit up, I feel like I'm going to lose my mind by five thirty everyday, and I consume enormous amounts of coffee. Starbucks anyone?

CJ:  Where can readers purchase your books and in what formats are they available?
EB:  Right now, the only book I have available (short story) is the Ranch Hand. It is available on Amazon or anywhere e-books are sold. But, hang tight because this years I have two novels coming out with Soul Mate Publishing. (Happy Dance!).  The buy link to the Ranch Hand can be found below.

CJ:  Where can readers find you on the web?
EB:  I would love for readers to find me on the web. They can catch me on my website,  Twitter, or Facebook.  Links are below.

CJ:  Thank you for the interview, Erin.
EB:  Thanks for having me, Carly. I enjoyed hanging out with you.
